
The Winston-Salem Entertainment-Sports Complex’s Sustainability Mission is to provide environmentally
green and safe venues, which meet the needs of clients and patrons through educated action.
Goals of the Program
- Create a Comprehensive Green Program for the Complex.
- To market and educate clients, patrons and staff on the Complex's Green Program.
- To formulate and implement recycling procedures.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive energy management program for all Complex facilities.
- Develop performance measurements to evaluate results of the Complex's Green Program.
- Maintain a green oversight committee that continues to develop and initiate industry standard practices for green facilities.
- To create a healthier environment for clients, patrons and staff.
- Be a leader among City of Winston-Salem departments of sustainability design, policies and programs.

What is Recycling?
...the act of processing used or abandoned materials for use in creating new products.
What Is Your Role?
- You're role is to assist in the execution of the Green Program.
- Do your best to make habit of turning off your vehicle.
- Make habit of turning off the lights when you leave a room.
- Know what IS and IS NOT recyclable.
So What Is Recyclable?
Currently The Following Is Recyclable In The Office
- Computer Paper
- White and Colored Paper, Notebook Paper
- Carbonless Forms
- Receipts, Tickets and Invoices
- Manila Folders
- Envelopes
- Post-It Notes
Currently The Following Is Recyclable In General
- Cardboard
- Aluminum
- Glass
- Plastics
Recycling Procedures In The Office

- Place paper in the small personal recycling bins.
- Place all Cans, Glass and Plastics in teh designated Blue Recycling Bins found throughout the complex.
- Source Separation is vital to the recycling program. If everyone deposits the correct material into the proper bins further sorting/extra work will not be required.
- Contaminated paper is NOT recyclable. (Ex. items with grease, i.e. food wrappers or pizza boxes)
Little Extras-Reduce Consumption
- Turn off lights when you leave a room.
- Turn off your vehicles when you're working at a location.
- Plan your route in your vehicle to minimize mileage.
- Make sure not to leave faucets dripping.
- Give any other suggestions that you may come up with.
